The new off-Broadway musical Sincerely, Oscar incorporates over 30 incredible songs, personal correspondence, unpublished work, and 3D holograph technology to tell the story behind one of Broadway’s most prolific lyricists, Oscar Hammerstein. SINCERELY OSCAR is the latest addition to the Off Broadway musical scene, celebrating one of Broadway's greatest lyricist, Oscar Hammerstein. With a book by Doreen Taylor, who also stars along with Azudi Onyejekwe, this show/musical revue takes you through some of the most fantastic and iconic songs associated with Mr. Hammerstein, and a few more deep cuts from shows of which you might not know.

The show also uses his words from letters and speeches to create a narrative through line. In addition to my chat with the both Doreen and Azudi, I also got to sneak in a chat with the show's Musical Director and Arranger, Lou Lanza. His arrangements will leave you wanting a cast album available before you leave that theater.

The world premiere of the new musical Sincerely, Oscar opened at Theatre Row April 4 after beginning preview performances March 28. Written by and starring Doreen Taylor, the show celebrates the life, music, and legacy of famed lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II.

Sincerely, Oscar features a book by Taylor and direction by Dugg McDonoug. As well as showcasing over 30 of his greatest songs from shows like The Sound of Music, Show Boat, Oklahoma!, Carousel, and South Pacific, the production incorporates Hammerstein's personal correspondence, unpublished lyrics, interviews, and rare memoirs. Azudi Onyejekwe (The Great Comet) co-stars alongside Taylor and a hologram of Hammerstein II.

Azudi Onyejekwe (The Great Comet, Violet) has joined the upcoming Off-Broadway production of Sincerely, Oscar, a new musical celebrating the life, music, and legacy of famed lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II. Onyejekwe, who will star alongside the show's creator Doreen Taylor, replaces the previously announced Johnathan Lee Iverson.

Sincerely, Oscar, a new musical celebrating Tony-winning Broadway lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II, has been announced to play Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre this spring. Featuring a book co-written by Doreen Taylor, who will also star, and Johnathan Lee Iverson, the production will begin previews on March 27 with an opening set for April 4. Dugg McDonough will direct. Tickets are now on sale.
